David Lee Della Silva

David Lee Della Silva, 91, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1933, in Beverly Hills, California, the son of James Orson and Muriel Patricia Eggleston Della Silva. His mom passed away when he was little, and he was raised by his dad and stepmom June Rentmeister Della Silva.

During his high school years, David was a member of the ROTC. He graduated from Ogden High School Class of 1951. After graduating he moved to Texas, while living in El Paso, Texas, he attended Texas Tech and worked in advertising. He was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David married Elizabeth Irene Pincombe on October 26, 1983, in Tijuana, Mexico.

He taught for the Miller Ski School and was their top instructor. He considered Earl and Gladys Miller family. He then went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad where he retired after 39 years as a conductor. His true passion was being a ski instructor, and he continued teaching at Deer Valley and Snow Basin Ski Resorts for many years. He took pleasure in teaching the deaf and blind to ski.

David loved making model airplanes and sport cars. He loved the outdoors skiing and waterskiing. He taught many family members how to water and snow ski. David stayed active throughout his life.

David is survived by his wife, Lizzie; his siblings, Dianne Paskett, Barry (Sherry) Della Silva, Brent Della Silva, and Kevin (Cora) Della Silva. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, James Hugh Della Silva, Farrell Val Della Silva, and Paul Scott Della Silva.

Private graveside service will be held at the Syracuse Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
