David Michael Edwards
MELISSA, Texas a" David Michael Edwards, age 63, of Melissa, Texas, passed away May 1, 2008, in McKinney, Texas.
David was born September 29, 1944 in Ogden, Utah to Jack and Hazel Engelke Edwards. He graduated from Ogden High School, Class of 1963. He attended Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. He was a graduate of Utah State University in Logan, Utah with a degree in manufacturing engineering.
He married Mary Kathryn Smith on August 30, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
David retired in 2005 from Quaker Oats where he was a manufacturing engineer for twenty-eight years.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Bishop, High Counselor, Teacher, Family History consultant, and Scout leader.
He enjoyed golf, genealogy, college sports, and was an avid outdoorsman. David, most importantly, loved each of his children and grandchildren dearly.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Edwards of Ogden, Utah; beloved wife Mary of Melissa, Texas; children, James (Cinda) Edwards of Platte City, Missouri; Wade (Megumi) Edwards of Edgewater, New Jersey; Carla (Gregory) Shields of McKinney, Texas; Glenn (Natalie) Edwards of Huntington Station, Long Island, New York; Jason (Mindy) Edwards of Tremonton, Utah; and Barbara (Benjamin) Smith of West Jordan, Utah; grandchildren, Ashley and Jackson Edwards, Emma, Lindsay, and Nicholas Shields, Angela and Abigail Edwards, Jarom and Michael Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Edwards.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2801 W. Eldorado Parkway, McKinney, Texas. The family received friends during a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
