David Eldon Fletcher, 85, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1924 in Ogden, Utah to David S. and Mable Ernstrom Fletcher.
David graduated from Weber College and obtained a Business Degree from the University of Utah.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-17 pilot during World War II. He completed 35 bombing missions.
On August 27, 1947 David married Verna Bess Ferrell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated 61 years together.
As a member of the LDS Church he served in many callings.
David retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. where he worked for 37 years as a Division Manager.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Verna; three daughters, Dianne (Norman) Eddy, Clinton; Joanne (Lee) Nanney, North Ogden; Laurie (Blaine) Richey, Ogden; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd E. Fletcher, LeGrande Fletcher, Richard Fletcher; and one sister, Norma Egginton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David F. Fletcher, and three sisters, Helen Parker, Marion Carmony and Athleen Sharp.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Burch Creek 6th & 7th Ward Chapel, 3680 Eccles Avenue.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and at the church house on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
