David Harold Jones died on the evening of May 26, 2024 in his home surrounded by family after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born on August 18, 1955 in Hornell, NY to Richard W and Mary Louise Jones who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Della Ann Barfuss.
He is survived by his brother, Richard Jones (Jeannie Jones). David grew up in Utah and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1974.
He was married to the love of his life, LeAnne Roberts on July 17, 1976. Together they had two children, David Troy Jones (Melinda Garcia) and Jennifer Jones. He had one granddaughter, McKenna Jones.
David loved his family dearly and their regular Sunday morning coffees.
In 1997, he moved to Colorado Springs with his wife and daughter. After 20 years, he and his wife moved back to Utah in 2017.
David was proud to retire from the DoD after 30 long years of devoted service. He had many different jobs in those 30 years and eventually retired in 2014 from the Mitchell Hall Dining Facility on the Air Force Academy where he’d cooked for 6000 cadets twice a day since 2002.
David enjoyed all things sports and was an all-weather Utah Jazz fan. He supported women’s sports before it was cool. He loved gardening and took great pride in his flower gardens. He always had the best looking lawn on the block. David had a unique sense of humor that sometimes went over people’s heads. We are proud to have known him and loved him.
