David D. Hancock
WASHINGTON TERRACE – David Dean Hancock, 59, passed away Monday, September 17, 2007 from a short term battle with cancer. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 16, 1948 in Ogden, the son of Dean C. and Doris M. Cain Hancock. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1966. He also attended Weber State. He excelled in playing the clarinet, piano and organ.
David retired with 35 years of employment with the Internal Revenue Service as a tax specialist/tax auditor in 2003, working in Ogden, UT and Fresno, CA.
David liked to go boating, loved going to the beach and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed home remodeling and repairs.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his mother Doris, three sisters and one brother, Patsy (Dean) Duncan, Peterson, UT; Karen (Ed) Reece, California; Kevin Hancock, Salt Lake City; Jodie (Rob) Shadbolt, Syracuse; 17 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean.
Thank you to the EMT’s and Weber County Sheriff’s Department for their help at such an emotional time. Also, a special thanks to the McKay-Dee Hospital staff who gave such loving and gentle care.
There will be a Celebration of Life for David on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
