In the early morning hours of 22 October 2024, David Blaine Hansen passed away at the George E. Wahlen VA Center in Salt Lake City.
David was born on the 26th of March 1948 to his loving parents, Vernal and Burneice Hansen in Shelly, Idaho. At the age of 16, he joined the U.S. Army, attending basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and would go on to serve two tours in Vietnam, along with time spent in Germany and Korea.
David and Wendy were married on the 21st of May 1971 in Deweyville, Utah and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. In the summer of 1973, with a dream and $500 they packed everything they owned into their VW Bug and moved to Alaska where they lived for 41 years. They raised two boys, Zack and Jonathan.
David loved the outdoors and did whatever was required to support and ensure his family had the things they needed. David was an extremely resilient man and overcame many challenges and obstacles in order to support his family.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wendy and their two sons, Zack (Lindsey) and Jonathan, two grandsons, one granddaughter and his brothers, Josh, Ted. Gary and sister, Sharon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, MC.
We would like to give a huge “thank you” to his brother, Josh Rasmussen and his wife, Judith who had a special place in David’s heart. We would also like to give a “thank you” to the staffs at George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center and Huntsman Cancer Institute where he received outstanding care over the last 18 years. Lastly, another huge thank you to all the brothers and sisters of the Lakeview Ward.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, please contribute to Tunnels to Towers, an organization David held in high regard.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Lakeview Ward, 4900 South 2000 West, Roy, Utah.
