David L. Heaps, 68, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was born on June 26, 1944, in Ogden, Utah to David Wilford and Emma Flitton Heaps. David married Linda K. Schultz in May 1966 and their marriage was later solemnized and the family was sealed for time and eternity in the Ogden Temple. David met Linda while stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Pinedale, Wyoming.

David resided most of his life in Northern Utah. While serving for the military, he became interested in electronics engineering and pursued that career path for the rest of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Weber State University and was a proud Wildcat alumnus. Throughout his career, he worked as a defense contractor and civilian employee at Hill Air Force Base where he retired in October 2011. Because David was exceptionally gifted at problem-solving, he thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of his career and made many life-long friends along the way.

David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) and embraced that aspect of his life. Earlier in his life, he also served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America which he thoroughly enjoyed.

David made the most of every minute of his life. In addition to his passion for his career, he was fully engaged in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always made time for his family and especially loved his grandchildren. David was an enthusiastic student of life who obtained a vast knowledge in many areas. One of his many gifts was his ability to convey that knowledge to others which made him an outstanding mentor, teacher, and parent. David is dearly loved by those he touched and will be missed.

David is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Shelly, Tom, Vicky (Juan), Valerie (Evan), and Robert (Erin); and 8 grandchildren. Surviving siblings include 2 sisters, Doris (Gordon) Linford and Darlene Evans. David was preceded in death by his parents.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and support from the LDS Nordic Valley Ward members during David''s illness over the last several months. Your help was invaluable.
