David Hughes

September 3, 1953 — March 30, 2021

David Allen Hughes passed away on March 30, 2021 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT with family at his side and his grandson holding his hand.

David was born on September 3, 1953 in Platte City, MO where he grew up and graduated high school. His first job was as a bus boy at Play Boy Club in Kansas City, MO for the Bunnies. He then joined and traveled with the Silver Dollar Band, playing guitar, until he decided he couldn't make a living playing music. He then went to work for Braniff Airways and Southwest in Phoenix, AZ. He moved to Ogden, UT to be near his sons where he went to work for Kimberly Clark until retiring in 2017.

David is survived by sons Nick (Breanne) Hughes, Layton, UT; Tim (Lindsey) Hughes, Murrieta, CA; seven grandchildren, Collin, Cambri, Carter, Will, Case, Davey, and Ben; his mother Georgia Hughes O'Day, Kansas City, MO; and his brothers Bill Hughes, Excelsior Springs, MO; John Hughes, Collierville, TN; and Eric Hughes, Phoenix, AZ.

David was a simple, kind, loving man. He loved his family and the Chiefs. Though he will be greatly missed, we are all comforted that he is back to playing golf, playing guitar, and walking his dog Drisdom.

"Your presence we miss

Your memories we treasure

Loving you always

Forgetting you never"

Love, your sons
