David “Nice Guy” G. Kelly
RIVERDALE – David Gerald Kelly, 77, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at his home.
He was born September 28, 1929 in Salem, Utah, a son of Forest Glen and Iona Sabin Kelly.
On October 28, 1953, David married Lucille Dickey in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was raised and educated in Brigham City, moving to Panama when he was 11 years old. He graduated from high school in Box Elder County. He lived in Riverdale for the past 18 years.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a Seventy and a High Priest. He served in the Bishopric of the Riverdale 4th Ward and as a Stake Missionary and Stake Mission Leader for seven years.
He served with the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
David retired from Hill Air Force Base as an artist/illustrator.
He was a member of the Florescent Mineral Society. David enjoyed painting and was a talented cartoonist. He loved to fish and had a great sense of humor.
Surviving are his wife Lucille of Riverdale; two sons and two daughters, Bruce (Kelle) Kelly, Malad, ID; Curtis (Debbie) Kelly, Layton; LuAnn (Wes) Thirkill, Ogden; Lynette (Jim) Landry, Clearfield; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, LeRoy (Sherry) Kelly and Dale “Glenn” (Lonna) Kelly.
Preceding David in death were his parents, one brother Lamar, and one grandchild.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Legacy Hospice, especially Kristy Burnett who he developed a strong bond with.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale 4th Ward Chapel, 5500 South 1175 West, with Bishop Scott M. Smith officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
