David J Layton

June 17, 1947 — February 21, 2023

David passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in his North Ogden home surrounded by his loving family. David was born and raised in Clearfield, Utah to Ross and Winifred Layton. David married Karen Krocker in 1965 and together they raised 4 daughters and 1 son. After 27 years, they were divorced.

In 2001 David married Sharon Kingsford, and together they traveled and shared their golden years. Sharon passed away in September of 2022 and David shortly followed.

David loved life. He loved the mountains, his guns, and old westerns. But the majority of smiles that lit up his eyes was when he was with his children and grandchildren. David worked at Hill AFB and McLellan AFB then back to Hill AFB as an aircraft mechanic until he retired in 2002. He was an amazing man who will be sorely missed.

David is survived by his 4 children; Tami (James) Wall, D. Todd Layton, Gina (Bill) Wehus, and Cyndie Savoie, 2 step-daughters Kathy Layton and Michelle Collins (Terry), 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 5, 2023 at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. To honor David’s memory, family will be wearing flannel shirts. Friends and family are invited to celebrate David’s life with us at the mortuary.
