KAYSVILLE - David Gurr Meldrum, age 75, passed away quietly on Thursday, February 6, 2014, encircled by family. David was born August 3, 1938, in Provo, Utah, to Ralph and Susanna Meldrum. He was the youngest of four siblings, Jack (Louise), Laura Tunbridge, and Helen Casey (John).

He graduated from Davis High School, where he met his sweetheart, Jennet Cunningham. On October 26, 1956, he and Jennet were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Married at the age of 18, David and Jennet raised each other while raising their six children, Kevin (Cathy), Mark (Debbie), Shawn (Teresa), Julie Simmons (Jason), Jared (Cindy), and Matthew (Nicole).

David was involved with computing from its early days. His profession took his young family to many parts of the world. He also had a passion for agriculture and purchased, outfitted and ran a small farm in Colorado prior to settling his young family in Kaysville, Utah.

David and Jennet continued their education throughout their lives, exemplified by graduating together from the LDS Institute of Religion at Weber State University in 1998. Throughout their 53 years of marriage and beyond, David’s life’s work was dedicated to caring for and supporting his family as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in several church capacities. In addition to his family-centered life and church service, he loved exploring and he visited all 48 continental United States on his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Jennet, his parents, brother Jack, and sister Helen. He is survived by his sister Laura, his children and 22 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 4th Ward chapel, 875 E. 200 North. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
