David Jay Parker

David Jay Parker, 67 passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, from unexpected health complications.
He was born July 23, 1947 in Hooper, Utah, a son of David Faye and Vida Arave Parker. He spent his childhood in Hooper and attended Weber County Schools.
David joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served his country in the Vietnam War.
On April 8, 1967, David married his sweetheart, Marcia Diane Miller, in Ogden, Utah. They have been sweethearts and best friends for over 50 years. They had two sons, Nathan and Matt.
David served as Commissary Officer with the Department of Defense and his career took him and Marcia on a world adventure, living and working in the United Kingdom, Egypt, Italy and Japan. Together they enjoyed traveling and experiencing the histories and cultures of the places in which they lived and sharing these experiences with their sons, friends and family members. David was an avid horseman and enjoyed woodworking and handcrafting traditional shepherd’s crooks and walking sticks. In these things he was a true artist.
David is survived by his wife, Marcia, two sons, Nathan David Parker, Honolulu, Hawaii; Matthew David Parker, Liberty, UT; and two sisters, Nadine (Robert Duane) Cox, and Joann (Juergen) Mudrow, both of Hooper, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Darrel Parker, Ronald F. (Sonia) Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
