The love of our life, David H. Riel, 63, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at his home.
He was born May 12, 1947 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to Henry F. and Louise A. Yarmack Riel.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an Air Reserve Technician in the 508th TFG and 419th FW at Hill Air Force Base. He worked as a weapons and ammunitions flight chief. He also worked as a civilian in the same career field. He retired with 32 years from the military as a Chief Master Sergeant and 32 years civil service.
He married Cikarda (Jo) Ninalga and with this marriage, they had their beautiful daughter, Michele. Their marriage ended.
David then met Linda Darby Atencio on June 30, 1980 and soon after they began their life together. They were married on February 14, 1988 in Reno, Nevada. They have been together for 30 years.
David is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Michele (Trevor) Steinthal, Washington; Carrie Balactar, Plain City; Dina (Steve) Adams, Syracuse; Donnelly (Joe Tams) Atencio, Clinton; four grandchildren, Canyon, Jace, Colton, and Mason, one great-grandchild, Cash; two sisters, Martha Ring, Fitchberg, Massachusetts; and Carolyn Organ, Greenfield, Massachusetts. Step children from his marriage to Jo: Terry Bowen; Marco Hernandez; Mike Hernandez; and Kim Hernandez.
Special thanks to his friends who he enjoyed being around: Wally, Chris, Mike and Steve. You guys made him laugh and have a good time. And to Vance, he had nothing but good memories of the times you two shared in the early days of his Air Force Career.
He was preceded in death by his parents, very special brother-in-law, James Ring, and a son-in-law, Tim Balactar.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary 3333 West 5600 South.
The family will meet friends for a viewing on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, UT. Military Honnors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honnor Guard.
