LAYTON a€" David Brent Shields, 58, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his home.

He was born January 25, 1951 in Ogden, Utah the son of Lewis Glenn and Elaine Heward Shields.

He graduated from Davis High School.

David married Debra Smith on September 21, 1972 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many callings and served an LDS Mission in Ireland.

David was a rock hound and loved art, leather work and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Adam David and Jakob Andrew Shields of Layton; his parents and two brothers, Ron (Nancy) Shields of Layton; and Brian (Cheryle) Shields of West Bountiful.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
