DAVID THOMAS SHORE
1933-2021
David Thomas Shore passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021 at the age of 87. In the midst of his battle with serious medical issues, he maintained his courage and humor for the last 4 years at St. Joseph Villa, who we would like to thank for their excellent care of our beloved Father. We have it on excellent authority that he will be greatly missed (especially among the ladies!). As the resident “Doctor of Joke Medicine”, David used his writing skills to publish his thoughts and humor to bless fellow residents with his medicinal laughter.
David was born into a Ukrainian community in Two Hills, Alberta on October 28, 1933 to parents Nick Dochuck and Mary Panbone with the name Orest. At 3.5 years old after his Mother died, he was placed in an orphanage for 1.5 years with his 2 siblings. All 3 children, Gladys, George, and now David, were adopted by Alma and Hazel Shore, growing up on a farm in Rosemary, Alberta.
Shortly after serving a French mission in 1955-1958, David met and married his sweetheart Rosa Orsini who passed away in 2017.
David is preceded by his oldest sister Olga, and is survived by his sister Gladys Lockrem (Ray) and his brother George Shore (Linda) along with his 7 sons and 2 daughters, David Shore (Kathaleen), Jonathan Shore (Maria), Michael Shore (Judy), Joseph Hawes, Gabriel Shore, Anna Maria Soltis (Mark), Raphael Shore, Elizabeth Shore (Joey), and Timothy Shore. David is also survived by 14 Grandchildren, and 2 Great- Grandchildren.
David worked hard in the construction industry as a taper/painter and put in an extraordinary amount of hours to provide for his large family. David’s passions were writing, religious studies, and many athletic pursuits such as boxing, hockey, baseball, horseshoes and more. He also coached and played softball. He led the whole family in the creation of a book called “The Rockart Files” that included his humor and Rosa’s artistic talents.
David was a great father and mentor. He will be sorely missed.
Here is a sample of David’s original humor:
The 3 stages of man: Believes in Santa Clause; Doesn’t believe in Santa Clause; IS Santa Clause from Black Friday to Christmas.
College Joke: When it is a clear day in SoCal, UCLA.
Before Marriage: Spooning (under the Moon and Stars) After Marriage: Forking over (Under the Sun of Righteousness)
