David Sidney Sickle r
SUNSET—David Sidney Sickler, age 69, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at the University of Utah Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born November 30, 1947, the only child of Sidney Nicholas Sickler, Jr. and Maria Frances Carollo. He grew up in Washington Terrace, Utah and graduated from Bonneville High School.
He began to learn his trade by helping three elderly ladies print church bulletins in their basement where they had a small printing press. He was the newspaper editor and school photographer and was hired by Star Printing before he graduated.
David married Rebecca Larsen Sickler on November 2, 1973 in Ogden, Utah. They later made their home in Layton, Utah for 30 years. They are the loving parents of Aaron (Keitha) Sickler, Sarah (James) Berghout, Danamarie (Jared) Huggard, Jessica (Jeff) Barlow and Paulina (Brian) Huggard. They have 21 grandchildren.
He became a skilled pressman teaching printing for Weber School District, then working for Blane Hudson Company and Candle Graphics, to name a few. He started the company Purr-Fection Printing, owning and operating it for 17 years. He was a member of the Layton Rotary Club and was proud to be a part of it’s efforts in eliminating Polio worldwide. He later retired from Ogden Litho.
He enjoyed woodturning and loved being a member of the Golden Spike Woodturners Club. He relaxed by camping and being in the outdoors. He loved his pets, good food and loyal friends, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known for his work ethic and colorful sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
