David J. Taylor
OGDEN – David Josiah Taylor, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the University of Utah Medical Center of complications from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He was born February 13, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Josiah Junius and Dorothy Searle Taylor.
On April 7, 1962, David married Jeane Rogers. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 13, 1977.
In 1997, he retired after 36 years of service in the Computer System Software Development for the Defense Department. He had worked in Data Automation at Hill Air Force Base and later at the DLA Systems Design Center at Defense Depot Ogden where he retired as a manager.
David was a patriot through and through and had a great respect for the men and women who serve in the armed forces. He served in the Army and Air Force Reserves, retiring as a CMSgt in 1991 while assigned to the Tactical Air Command at Nellis Air Force Base.
He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings during his life. His faith gave him the knowledge that this earth life is short, and we are all destined for greater things and we will be with our loved ones again.
He was a Boy Scout leader at the troop and district levels and some of his fondest memories were witnessing boys become self-reliant young men through outdoor adventures. He loved organizing high adventure activities.
David loved all the outdoors adventure you could experience in these United States and there isn’t much he missed. He and Jeane were frequently on the road to a new adventure, and probably set some kind of record for visits to Yellowstone.
More than anything in his life he cherished his family. They always came first for him. He had a companion as near to being perfect as is possible and felt blessed every day of his life. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and their honorable lives. He loved his sisters, nephews and nieces and the joy they brought into his life. He also had a special love for his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. They brought him a lot of fun and happiness.
Surviving are his wife, Jeane, of Ogden; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Keri Taylor of Eagle, ID; and grandchildren: Jordan (Sandy), Alyssa, Rebecca, Joshua, and Cassidy.
Also surviving are his sister, Pat Taylor, of Denver, CO; step-brother, Leland (Sonia) Saunders, Jr., of Prescott, AZ; step-sisters, Leah (Val) Reynolds of Pahrump, NV; Patsy (Jose) Vasquez of St. George; Yvonne Fultz, of Centerville; and mother-in-law, Bernyce Singleton, of Farr West.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Scott, his father and mother, his step-father, Leland Saunders, and a sister, Elaine Stephens.
