David Stanley Tebbs

David Stanley Tebbs, cherished son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 of congestive heart failure as a result of a courageous, life-long battle with diabetes and a nine-month battle with metastatic melanoma.

Dave fought a hard fight every day of his life with his many health challenges, yet he did so with great optimism and light-heartedness. He was forever the tease. We will miss his silly jokes and clever wit.

David was born December 5, 1951 in San Diego, California, the first born son of Stanley A. and Rayona Price Tebbs. He grew up in Clearfield and attended Clearfield High School, where he graduated in 1970. After high school, he attended Weber State University. He lived in Clearfield most of his life. He and his best friend, Jerrold Judkins, enjoyed great times bow hunting before and for a time after Jerrold moved to Boise.

Dave worked for many years at Hobart in Clearfield, then as a sheet metal mechanic at Hill Air Force Base repairing and re-fitting F-16''s and C-130s. He received a medical retirement from the Base in 1994. Later, he worked for KK Mechanical and for Worldwide Insulation. Dave had an incredible work ethic and always gave his very best to the task at hand.

Dave was a loving and devoted father to Ashley Ray Tebbs and Kelsey Dee Tebbs. His girls were his pride and joy and everything he did revolved around them. He was also a fun grandfather to Evie Nicole McGlamery and Braiden David Nestico. He was a big brother to four sisters, Sharee (Richard) Castelli, Sheila (Kurt) Klev, Jilyn (Steven) Hopkins, and Cynthia (Kim) Keller; two brothers, Alan (Vicki) Tebbs and Russell (Kris) Tebbs. Dave is survived by all those listed above as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa and Grandma Tebbs, Grandpa and Grandma Price and nieces, Kerissa and Kassidy Tebbs.

David loved Moab. His greatest fun in life was to build up his truck, just to challenge it and his driving skills on the slick rock. Over the years, he organized and participated in regular trips to Moab with his family and good friends, Mark Goodrich and Kenny Farr. He was a long-time member of the Big Horn Four-Wheel Club where he served in several positions including, trip-planner, Vice-president and President. His "handle" was Wheeler Eater and he really lived up to that name with his truck.

A special thanks to Dr. Campbell, Hearts for Hospice, Erica, Cage, Jan, Dr. Kilpack and all of the excellent, caring staff at the U of U who saved Dave for us many times over many years.

The family would like to express our deepest love and appreciation to Alan and Vicki Tebbs, whose unwavering devotion and care of Dave in his final months, is beyond measure.

Dave, you were always the first one up the hill. Enjoy the view from the top and we will catch up with you soon.
