David R. Watson

1943-2015

David Rollo Watson passed away on February 22, 2015 due to an aggressive degenerative brain disease.  He was born on June 3, 1943 in Buhl, Idaho to Lee Ondus and Sarah (Fisher) Watson, the fourth of five sons.  After injuring his hand in a hunting accident, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended trade school and worked at the Hinckley Dodge car dealership.  He met his wife, Mary Ann Miller, at work and they married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1965.  Together they raised three sons: Lee (Jen) of Mesa, AZ; Matt (Amy) of Mesa, AZ; and Chadd (Shelly) of East Lake Tahoe, NV.  They also raised another son they considered their own, Nick (Shelly) Bowman, of Logan, UT.  Mary Ann preceded David in death in 2002. David subsequently married Sherylee Gillett on February 14, 2009 and he adored her.  They traveled the world together and he enjoyed the last years of his life with her.  She provided wonderful care for him during his last days.

David worked for Eaton Kenway/H.K. Systems for many years as a mechanical assembler.  He overcame the challenges of his injured hand so that few realized he even had a disability.  He had many hobbies including ATV riding, spending time outdoors, sight-seeing, and wood-working. His ability to plan and create fun outings, trips and activities made him a favorite friend and uncle.

David was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in the Boy Scouts for over 13 years and positively influenced dozens of young men.  He loved to go camping with the youth and visit with neighbors and friends

David is survived by his three sons, thirteen grandchildren, Sherylee, her five daughters and ten grandchildren, and two brothers, Dwayne (Shirley) of Roseville, CA and Dan (Judy) of Orofino, ID.
