Dawna Flint Smith, 85, passed away December 12, 2018 in Syracuse, Utah. Dawna was born December 14, 1932 in West Point, Utah to John Virgil and Myrtle Criddle Flint. She attended Davis High School.
Dawna married Carl Nile Smith of Altamont, Utah on June 15, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple where they enjoyed 65 years of marriage bringing six children into their family. The love of her life passed away in October 2015, leaving a huge hole in her heart and life.
Dawna faced several trials and tribulations in her life, but always remained true and faithful to her Savior. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many different callings of leadership and service. Mom and dad also served a mission in Trinidad and Tobago where they grew to love and serve the people there and developed several lifelong friends. Mom lived a Christ like life of love to one another, and giving of her time and talents. Her doors were always open to friends, missionaries, or strangers to share a meal, comfort, or treats. Even up to her last days at Raintree where she was known as the “Candy Lady” because she always had treats to share with the residents, staff, and visitors. Mom always found joy in spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Raintree Assisted Living in Syracuse for their kind and compassionate care, and to the staff at Symbii Hospice who took special care of our mother.
Dawna is survived by her four children; Janet Raspberry, Newman, Georgia, Vern (Trish) Smith, West Point; Jay (Melanie) Smith, Syracuse; and Travis (Bonnie) Smith, Palm Springs, CA; 11 grandkids, and 10 great-grandkids.
Dawna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Nile Smith, daughter, Karla, son, Ken and brother, John Flint.
