LAYTON - Dean C. Bruce, 88, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Layton, Utah of natural causes.

Dean was born March 9, 1922 in Smoot, Wyoming, a son of James Lawrence and Mable Crook Bruce.

He was married August 18, 1941 to Erva Leone Turner in Paris, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Erva, his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.

He married Emma Fay Jacobsen October 4, 1985 in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple.

Dean graduated from Star Valley High School in 1941 and served in the Southern California Mission.

He worked as a dairy farmer, mechanic, projectionist and as an Electronic Technician at Hill Air Force Base for 32 years.

He loved the Lord and his family. Faithfully serving a mission and held numerous church callings. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, sister Donna (Duane) Sibbett, four children, Rick (Myrna) Bruce, Syracuse; Annette (Evan) Holley, West Point; Keri (Melanie) Bruce, Syracuse; Reg (RaeDean) Bruce of Sheridan, Wyoming; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, eight step-children, Yvonne Montierth of Ogden; John (Julie) Jacobsen of Willard; Steven (Mindy) Jacobsen of Plain City; Roger (Charlene) Jacobsen of Slaterville; Christine (Ryan) of Atlantic City, Florida; Karen Jacobsen of Clinton; Allen Jacobsen of Roy; Nathan (Stephanie) Jacobsen of Roy; 15 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Every end is a beginning even if it hurts. You can shed tears because he''s gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he returns, or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left behind.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the VaeView Chapel, 1715 W. 1600 No., Layton. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
