Dean Wright Drysdale

Dean succumbed to his 97 years on October 26, 2014 while at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Roy, Utah. Born on June 27, 1917 in Logan, Utah to Beatrice Wright and William Lewis Drysdale, he lived his entire life in the Ogden area.
On December 16, 1939 he married Grace Dixon the love of his life. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 19, 1946. Grace and Dean were inseparable for 52 years. They were parents of two boys, Harvey William, born on April 24, 1942 and Steven Dean, born on April 9, 1947.
Dean retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad with 37 years working heavy steel on steam engines and later on diesel electric locomotives.
He was preceded in death by Grace, Harvey William Drysdale, and one great-great-grandchild.
Dean is survived by his son, Steven (Carin) Drysdale of West Point, Utah and Judy Allen Drysdale of Riverdale, Utah. Dean married Leona Joy Engelke on August 4, 1991 and after an extended illness he was left alone again. In 2007 Dean moved in with Steven and Carin and spent the last two weeks of life in a nursing home. Dean loved music and spent the majority of his later life playing music and serving as a volunteer at senior homes in the greater Ogden area. Dean’s posterity includes 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the West Point 6 th Ward Chapel, 3290 West 800 North. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
