Dean L. Foxley
March 31, 1923 – October 8, 2016
SYRACUSE – Dean was born March 31, 1923 to Leo H. and Artell Love Foxley in Kaysville, Utah the first of six children. He spent his entire life living in the Farmington, Kaysville, Layton, and Syracuse area except for his time during WWII that he spent in Europe.
He has very fond memories of his youth farming and herding cows on his pony Tony, going from Kaysville to the lake. When he was quite young he had a lot of responsibilities helping his father take care of the farms they lived on.
Dad worked at HAFB for many years in different departments and positions deciding to retire at the age of 55. Soon after he went to work for J Ron Stacy Construction for a few years then going to work for a local west Layton farmer a job he was truly passionate about.
Dean has spent the last 3 ½ years missing the love of his life his wife of 64 years Joy, but on the evening of October 8, 2016 he left his earthly body behind to be with her again.
Dean loved his wife and family very much and showed it often. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving faithfully in many callings over the years. Dad loved his horses and teams of ponies also. He took great pride in taking care of them, riding them, and giving rides in the cart, he built to be pulled by one of the teams of ponies he owned.
He enjoyed the out of doors keeping his yard nice and neat. He spent time snowmobiling well into his 80’s. He water skied at Bear Lake even after he had turned 80 years of age. He only started to slow down after his eyesight really started getting bad. He still enjoyed going places the long way around so he could look at the farms and the animals.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joy, his parents, one brother Lynn Foxley and one sister Audrey Chadwick.
He is survived by one sister, Colleen Nelson, two brothers, Bob (Sandy) Foxley, Allen (Lorraine) Foxley, three sister-in-laws, Anna Halls, Lois Maxwell, Teddy Foxley, his children, Russell (Karen) Foxley, Green River, WY; Layne (Debbie) Foxley, Rock Springs, WY; Larry (LuAnn) Foxley, Rock Springs, WY; Wendell (LaRetta) Foxley, Layton; Kathleen (Paul) Thurgood, Syracuse; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
