Dean Bateman Hammon

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Dean Bateman Hammon, was reunited with her husband and loved ones on Sunday, December 8, 2013.

Dean was born October 6, 1919 in Burley, Idaho to George Albert and Ivy Myrtle Garside Bateman. She was the 6th child of ten children.

After graduating Rupert High School, Dean married her high school sweetheart, Lyman B Hammon in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 13, 1937. They had six children, twins Charol Kay Monk (deceased) and Carren Ann Peterson, Patricia Lynn Monger, Lyman B Hammon (Krystal), Janis Pollard (Roy), George L. Hammon (Sharon).

Dean was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as the Relief Society President in Boise, Idaho at the age of 75. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She loved to paint and many of her paintings are proudly displayed in her children''s homes. Dean loved to make candy for the holidays. She was always the happiest when she had family around her, especially her grandchildren.

She will always be remembered for her kindness.

Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman B Hammon on March 25, 1972, her daughter Charol Kay Monk, granddaughter Ceilee Ann Monk, great-grandson Chance Peterson, and son-in-law Roger J. Monger.

She is survived by her children, 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, a sister Muriel Maw, and son-in-law, Clark Monk (Nancy).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
