Dean LeRoy Kelson

August 8, 1932 — September 2, 2024

Dean Kelson, “Kels,” our precious and most beloved Father and Grandfather, great Grandfather, great great Grandfather passed away September 2, 2024, at his home in Layton with children by his side at the age of 92.

Dean was born on August 8, 1932, to Harold Albert Kelson & Ila Ann Hyde Kelson in Ogden Utah, where he attended Ogden High School.

He married Anita Tracy on October 14, 1961. They moved their family to Layton where they lived for 63 years. Between them they had eight children. Dad influenced each and every one of his children in many special ways. His love for his family came first, they were his pride and joy. With Dad, there was never a dull moment whether it was driving the boat, teaching us to water ski, being pulled on a water weenie, or untangling our fishing lines. He never got to catch a fish with his kids in the boat, but he never complained. We had lots of barbecues in the back yard and many trips to Farr’s for ice cream. Our most recent memories are of going to the “camping house” at Blackfoot Reservoir in Idaho. Friendship was easy to make and hard to let go. Dad was the most loving, caring father, and he was the best dad anyone could have. He never missed an opportunity to remind his family and friends how much he cared for them by asking, “What can I do for you?” and, “I love you.” Dad was also known for being the “fix-it man” he was incredibly talented he could fix anything that crossed his path. Dad had a love for sweets, especially pie, strawberry short cake, tootsie rolls, bit-o-honey, ice cream, cookies and cakes and never gained a pound.

Dean was employed at Hill Air Force Base as an Airplane Mechanic and Inspector for 37 years. He also worked part-time driving a semi-truck for Flying J and also worked as a Custodian for the LDS Church cleaning the Ward houses and Seminary buildings.

Dean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served as a home teacher for many years.

Dean is proceeded in death by Anita Tracy Kelson, his parents, brothers and sister.

Dean is survived by seven children: Rodney Kelson (Janet), Khristine Kelson, Jeff Kelson (Ronda), Randy Kelson (Jackie), Lisa Bosley, Brett Kelson (Shelley), Cindy Foote (Boyd). 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Enhabit Home Health & Hospice Staff or their loving care and support, in particular, Nurse Jen, Linda, aide Jody, and Renato and many other staff members. We will be forever grateful for their loving care and compassion for Dad.
