Dean Scadden

June 25, 1922 — November 24, 2018

The Lord welcomed home a good man on November 24, 2018.

Dean Tippets Scadden was born June 25, 1922 in Ogden, Utah to Fred and Ethel Scadden. He was the oldest of three boys.

He married Phyllis Stewart on March 16, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dean served his country in WWII as a parachute rigger (first class) on the aircraft carrier Manila Bay in the South Pacific.  He received an honorable release on December 7, 1945.  He worked at HAFB in the parachute department and also was a floor coverings and countertop installer for many years.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many ward and stake callings.  His most favorite was as Assistant Scoutmaster for which he received many awards including the Award of Merit.  He enjoyed watching western cowboy movies, playing the saxophone in many dance bands as a young man, camping, hunting with his boys, fishing at many Uinta lakes, traveling with the “Over the Hill Good Sams” group and most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the management and staff of Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care.  Dean benefited from the friendships, activities and services that he received while living at Chancellor for the past five years.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Lou Jean Scadden, five children, Richard (Marie), Glenn (Kathleen), Jolene (John, deceased), Duane (Linda) and Mark (Lisa). He has 24 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
