Dean S. Wood
OGDEN – Dean Stewart Wood, 85, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden, of heart failure and cancer.
He was born June 24, 1922 in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Jenettie Stewart and James Morris Wood.
On December 29, 1948, Dean married Reva Kennedy in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dean served with the U.S. Navy Air Corps as an aviation machinist mate during World War II.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a ward clerk for many years.
Dean worked at Hill Air Force for 39 years. He retired as a quality control specialist in the missile division. For 10 years, he drove a Mayflower school bus for the Ogden City School District.
He enjoyed gardening, camping and boating with his family. He also enjoyed playing his keyboard and using his computer.
Dean is survived by his wife, Reva Wood, of Ogden; children, Rodger (Darlene) Wood, West Point; Linda Wood, Ogden; grandsons, Travis (Trisha) Wood, Hooper; Clint (Karen) Wood, Roy; Ryan Wood and Cameron Wood, both of Ogden; granddaughters Melissa Wood, Ogden; and Christina Robinson, West Point; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are his sisters, Ruth (Art) King, Ephraim; and Ellen Koser, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Cecile Kennedy, South Ogden; and brother-in-law, Earnest (Bernadine) Kennedy, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Violet Larsen, Mary Dorthella Dunkley and Florence Shephard; and brothers, Earl Wood and Eugene Wood.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
