Debbie Jean Bybee

August 3, 1957 — January 9, 2023

Debbie Jean Bybee of South Weber, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 after a tough battle with liver cancer.

Born and raised in Ogden by parents who were both deaf, Debbie said she learned to sign before she learned to talk. Her early life was shaped by the illness of her father, who passed away when she was only 16. As a result, Debbie grew up quickly.

At the age of 18, Debbie met the love of her life, Bob Bybee. They were soon married, and the couple enjoyed nearly 47 years together. Along the way, they were blessed with four wonderful and loving children, Michael, Christopher, Daniel, and Meagan. Early on, they moved to San Diego where Bob was stationed in the US Navy. Debbie loved Southern California but chose to move back to Utah to be closer to family.

Debbie worked at IRS in Ogden for more than 30 years and retired as the Department Manager of Accounting. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she filled many callings over the years. After their son Chris died, the Lord opened the way for Debbie and Bob to be married in the temple, allowing them to be sealed together for all time and eternity. She was blessed to have many life-long friends, ward family, and neighbors in her life.

Debbie had an adventurous spirit! She was deeply moved by the beauty of the great outdoors, eagerly visited National Parks, enjoyed camping with her family, and loved to joy ride on her ATV. She was also motivated to create: she made the most beautiful crafts and was a marvelous painter. Above all else, Debbie loved spending time with her family. She was well-known for her silly sense of humor and her sneaky jokes. The absence of her laugh and caring nature are going to be missed desperately by her family and friends.

Debbie’s last several years were plagued with many health issues, and in April of 2021, she was diagnosed with liver cancer which finally robbed us of her loving presence. She is survived by her sister, Sandie; husband, Bob and their children, Michael (Shauna) of California, Daniel (Christy) of Utah, and Meagan (Lindsay) of Washington; as well as her grandsons, Gabe and Connor and granddaughter, Taylor. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; both brothers; and her son, Christopher.

The family would like to thank the Oncology Department at McKay Dee Hospital, the nurses and staff of Inspiration Hospice, and the staff from Community Nursing Services.
