Debra Kay Judkins McIntyre
Debra returned back to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on August 26, 2014 after a 6 ½ month battle with cancer. She passed away at her home in Kaysville surrounded by her family. She was born November 10, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack Ernest and Flora Roberts Judkins. She was the oldest of five children.
In the first 18 months of her life she lived in Salt Lake City and Southern California, later returning to North Ogden where her parents established their home. She attended schools in the Weber School District and graduated from Weber High School in 1970. Upon her graduation from high school she continued her education at Weber State University, where she received her degree in Business Office Administration in May 1973. While attending Weber State she found her eternal companion and soul mate Charles (Chuck) R. McIntyre. They were married August 28, 1973 in the Ogden LDS Temple.
For 41 years Debra and Chuck’s journey lead them to several places; Ogden and Salt Lake City, San Mateo, California; Pocatello, Idaho; Layton, and Kaysville.
Chuck and Debra lived in Layton for more than 30 years and raised their four children: Jeremy, Aaron, Michelle, and Amy. Debra was a dedicated and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several church callings throughout her life. She was the unknown Scout hero of her family. For over 12 years she gave up her Friday night dates with Chuck and summer vacations so that Chuck could serve as a Scout leader in his church calling. She supported them also in their school and dance activities. She instilled in each of her children the importance of education and inspired them all to graduate with college degrees. She was a true scout, dance, baseball, basketball and soccer mom. She had a love for reading and literature and belonged to book clubs in the community. She loved the interaction with others discussing books and literature each month.
She worked in Office and Business Administration off and on while raising her family at Flur Utah Engineering (San Mateo, CA), TRW (Hill AFB), and Utah District Court (Layton). At the time of her passing she was in her 20 th year of service with the Davis School District and was the Head Secretary at Sam Morgan Elementary School in Kaysville.
She is survived by her husband (Chuck), two sons and their spouses (Jeremy, Melissa), (Aaron, Wendy), two daughters and their husbands, (Michelle, Chris), (Amy, Cameron), six grandchildren, two brothers, (Randy, Troy), and a sister (Roxanne), as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack E. and Flora Judkins and brother Kerry Judkins.
She will always be remembered for her unconditional love and a friend of all she came in contact with. Most of all she will be remembered for her testimony of the Savior and was an example of His teachings and attributes.
