Dee Herbert Ferrell, 83, of Riverdale, Utah, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by his children and loving wife of 60 years, Vicki. He was born July 5, 1940, to Benjamin Herbert and Laura Packer Ferrell in Franklin, Idaho. He was the second oldest of ten children. He loved his siblings dearly, and later in life spoke regularly with them.
He married Vicki Lynn Hoggan on June 6, 1963, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Together they were blessed with five children. Dee cherished his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a fun sense of humor which endeared him to his family and many friends.
Dee loved to serve. He was a dedicated home teacher and blessed the lives of many widows in the Riverdale First Ward. Many have benefitted from his expert work on sprinkling systems. He was a wonderful mentor and had many trusted friends in his businesses. He served in the Canadian Mission and genuinely loved the people he served in Eastern Canada. Dee was an Eagle Scout and helped many young men also earn the rank of eagle.
Dee is survived by his wife, Vicki Ferrell, Riverdale; five children, Sheri (Boyd) Tanner, Queen Creek, AZ; Jeffrey (Kimberly) Ferrell, New River, AZ; Lori (John) Stokes, Pleasant View, Christina (Troy) Combs, Roy, and James (Cami) Ferrell, North Ogden; Delphine Gray, a daughter through the LDS Placement Program, Shiprock, NM; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and four surviving brothers and three surviving sisters, Wynn, Kim, Lance, Mike, Ellen, Kathy, and Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents; by one brother, Ellis Packer Ferrell; and by one sister, Ila Kaye Larson.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors and staff of McKay-Dee Hospital ICU and Dee’s other caring medical support, as well as the many friends, neighbors, and ward members who have cared for and served him.
