Dee Martin

Dee J Martin, 82, passed away on May 9, 2014 of complications following surgery.  He was born on December 23, 1931 in Oakley, Idaho to Joseph Oleen and Violet Mae Stanger Martin.  He was a hard worker and learned to work at an early age.  He started out as a farmhand and later moved to Ogden to become a small business owner of  Mountain View Café, Western Sunrise Café, and Martin Eggs, all in the Ogden area.  He was always known as “The Egg and Potato Man”.  He enjoyed his work, visiting, and chatting with customers over a hot cup of coffee.  He loved driving his truck and going for long rides.

He married Darleine S. Martin and together they had five children.  They later divorced.

Dee leaves behind his five children who helped him all his life, Joy (Bill) Williams, Judy (Randall) Jensen, Dennis (Stacy) Martin, Janet Wilson, and Carol (Larry) Anglesey; as well as his sister, Maryann Scheller, and brother, Wayne “Buck” Martin.  He was loved by his 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  We will miss our Sunday morning breakfasts with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen Martin; and long-time companion, Pearl A. Galvez.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit family on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden with Military Honors accorded.
