DEL W. CALLICOTTE

1940 - 2017

Del W. Callicotte of Bountiful, Utah, passed away April 13, 2017, after a courageous fight against brain cancer.

Del was the eldest of three sons born to Ralph and Hazel (McKinney) Callicotte, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on August 17, 1940. His brothers are Wallace Callicotte (deceased) and Roger Callicotte of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  At age eight, Del was considered the family hero, saving his four year old brother from their burning home.  He received the “Denver Post Award” for his efforts.

He married Judith Ardueser in 1961. They celebrated their 56th anniversary on February 12, 2017.  They have one son, Marvin Callicotte (Celena) of Columbia, South Carolina; two daughters, Deborah and Sandra Callicotte of Taylorsville, Utah; and two grandchildren, Seth and Arielle Callicotte of South Carolina.

Del graduated from Jefferson High School, Denver, Colorado, in 1958 and from Colorado School of Mines in 1964 with a degree in Geophysical Engineering.  Throughout his engineering career, he worked for Schlumberger (oil wells), Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (aeronautical), and as a civilian with the Air Force (air munitions).

Del was very active and supportive of his children’s activities.  He utilized his leadership and organizational skills coaching baseball, little league football, and girls softball.  He served as band booster president for Woods Cross High School as the band competed locally and in Edmonton, Canada.  He was Mayor of Prospector Park (the married student housing) during his years at Colorado School of Mines.  Del was a member of the Bountiful Jaycees, a service oriented organization; he served as State Treasurer of the Utah State Jaycees and was awarded a “Jaycee Senatorship, #24163”.  He was raised in Denver, Colorado, where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and golf.  At age 10, he threw two “no hitters”.

In his retirement he organized and ran many golf leagues in Yuma, Arizona, and the Davis County area.  He spent hours compiling statistics on each golfer and scheduling the weekly golf events.  He was an avid golfer but especially enjoyed socializing in the club house after a day of golf.  His proudest moment was shooting a “Hole In One” in 2011.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, nephew and many close cousins.  Del was preceded in death by his parents, brother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and nephew (Brian Oenning).

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 2p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E.  Bountiful, UT.  Viewings will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:30p.m. to 1:30p.m.at Lindquist’s.
