OGDEN – Del Mae Chugg Hovey, age 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
She was born May 7, 1922 in Providence, Utah, the daughter of William and Lillie Chugg. She married Clair Johnson Hovey on Jan. 24, 1946 in Providence, Utah. Del Mae was reared and educated in Providence and Hyrum, Utah. She graduated from South Cache High School. She attended Moench School of Business. She worked for the FBI in Sacramento, the Navy Base in Clearfield, and the Kaysville Medical Center. She was a member of the LDS church. She held many church positions including Stake Relief Society Secretary, Young Women President, and Stake Sunday School board.
Del Mae was sweet, kind and loving towards everyone she knew. She loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She taught her children and grandchildren many wonderful things. She also enjoyed golfing, shopping, reading, needlepoint, traveling, and playing bridge. Del Mae will also be remembered for her great sense of style!
She is survived by her son Ronald (Sonia) Hovey of Kaysville, her daughter Kaylene Jones of Ogden, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her five sisters and four brothers: Helen Lynch of Bountiful; Mary Beth Niederhauser of Logan; LuJean (Gene) Toolson of Bountiful; Connie (Bruce) Albretson of Bountiful; Alta (Warren) Burton of Providence; Mark (Jolene) Chugg of Bear Lake; Duard (Tyra) Chugg of Providence; Boyd (Mary Francis) Chugg of Centerville,Virginia; Rex Chugg of Arizona. Sisters-in-law Ruth (Clyde) Chugg of Idaho and Beth (Eli) Campbell of Boise, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Clyde Chugg of Idaho and Dean Chugg of Brigham City.
Private funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main Street.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
