DelMar E. Hellstrom
WASHINGTON TERRACE a" On the beautiful, cool morning of Saturday, October 25, 2008, DelMar Earl Hellstrom slipped peacefully away from this earthly life.
DelMar was born 91 years ago, August 18, 1917, in Randolph, Utah. He is the son of Leonard LeRoy and Luella Vilate Longhurst Hellstrom.
He married Leora Jones in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 9, 1943.
He worked for O.U.R. & D. Railroad. He retired from Hill Air Force Base and Defense Depot Ogden after 30 years of service. He attended many redistribution marketing courses and spent two months at Lawry Air Force Base in Denver. He received outstanding performance ratings including a Silver Zero Defects award and a Bronze Zero Defects award.
DelMar was a current member of the Washington Terrace 3rd Ward. He served in many church callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including: two stake missions, Elders Quorum President, Sunday School Superintendent, Ward Clerk, Gospel Doctrine teacher, High Priest Group leader, Stake Genealogy leader, and a member of the Bishopric.
DelMar planted a garden every year (even this past spring). He loved the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, or traveling. In his younger years, he and Leora loved to go dancing. He also enjoyed going on drives to Logan and through the canyons.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Leora, of Washington Terrace; four sons: Kent (Joan), Terry (Kathleen), Shan (Marian), and Rue (Caroline); 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with one on the way, and one brother, Evan (Jenny) Hellstrom.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Paul DeGroot of the Washington Terrace 3rd Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
