Delora Russell

Delora (Del) Read Russell passed away peacefully in her home on October 8, 2015 at the age of 86.  All who knew her will feel the loss, but especially her children and grandchildren who love her dearly.  Del was born on April 14, 1929 in Ogden, Utah, the third daughter of Walter Thomas and Myrtle Cantwell Read.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters (Ruth and Maxine), a brother (Walter Junior), and a daughter-in-law (Anne).

She married David Douglas Russell on September 14, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.  They had four children, Brent Douglas (Wendy), Suzan Haber (Avraham), Christine Shaw (Jeffrey), and Keith Read (Theresa).  She is “grandma” to 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.  She loved and cherished each and every one of them.  She also loved her pug companion, Gracie.

Her life was a balance of hard work, play, spiritual growth, and service.  She saw the good in life and in others and always counted her blessings.  Family was always her top priority and she made it her life’s goal to keep her family close and serve them in any way she could.

Del cherished numerous friendships throughout various phases of her life, including eight years living in Cedar City, twenty-five years working at the Davis County Library, nineteen years working for Luv2Dance Studio, many years hosting pool parties at home for friends and family, and a lifetime of associations from Church callings and activities.

We will miss her kindness, generosity, and quick wit.  We will miss her smile and her sense of humor.  We will miss her wisdom and example of tenacity, frugality, and gratitude.  She was our anchor and our treasure.

Her legacy is the great love she has for her family and for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville South Stake Center, 900 South Main, Kaysville.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 So. Main, Kaysville and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
