 Delsie Colleen Peña Gutierrez

 January 27, 1953 ~ October 4, 2021

Delsie Colleen Peña Gutierrez, 68, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home with family by her side on Monday, October 4, 2021.  Delsie was born on January 27, 1953 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Mack and Josephine Lopez Peña. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1971 and was a proud member of the elite Chauntonettes choir. She attended the Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) in La Puente, California and earned a Theology Degree in 1974.  While at LABI Delsie toured Northern and Southern California ministering the gospel through music with the choir. During the Summer months of bible college, Delsie toured the Western United States with an Ensemble Choir.

While attending LABI she met the love of her life and married Armando Leyvas Gutierrez, Sr. on September 7, 1974 in Ogden, Utah. Armando and Delsie started their lives together in Tucson, Arizona. They returned to Ogden in 1975 and later built a home in Clinton, Utah where they resided for 33 years until moving to their current residence in Syracuse, Utah.

Delsie was a member of the Zion Spanish Assembly of God Church in Ogden, Utah. She was very faithful in her service to the Lord by teaching Sunday School, Missionettes, Choir Director and being actively involved in the Women’s Ministry.  Delsie and her husband ministered through music and blessed countless lives with their beautiful, anointed voices. In her latter years she attended Elevation Church in Clearfield, Utah with her children.

Delsie worked as a Tax Examiner for the Internal Revenue Service for twenty-eight years and retired in 2014.  She always made it a point to tell everyone that she was one of the “nice ones” since she approved refunds for taxpayers.

Delsie enjoyed attending her kid’s sporting events, dance recitals, and all the family outings they did together.  She could always be counted on to be at every event and be their greatest cheerleader.

On Delsie’s free time she enjoyed painting, scrapbooking, crocheting, crafting and shopping.  Nana loved spoiling her grandkids with gifts and surprises.  Her children and grandchildren never doubted her love for them.

Delsie was the life of the party and enjoyed interacting with people.  She knew how to make people laugh and feel very comfortable around her.  Her personality allowed her to make friends very easily.

Delsie is survived by her husband, Armando L. Gutierrez, Sr.; children, Armando L. Gutierrez, Jr. (Kristie) of Syracuse, Utah; Damien Gutierrez (Amber) of Syracuse, Utah; Jeanene Sanchez (Mario) of West Point, Utah; brothers, Steve Peña (Ann) of Clinton, Utah; Bobby Peña (Tina) of Ogden, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Josephine Peña; and brother, Mack Peña, Jr.
