DeMar Kay Taylor
DeMar Kay Taylor (86), faithful husband, beloved father of seven, honored grandfather of forty-two and revered great-grandfather, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Layton, Utah. He was born June 12, 1930 to Floyd Manuel and Norma Kay Taylor in Payson, UT, where he and his wife Elaine were raised.
He served 2 years in the US Army. On September 8, 1954 he married his queen, Elaine Balle in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After living for a time in Provo and Payson, Utah they moved to Lander, Wyoming, where they spent 52 years. During that time he had a fulfilling career with US Steel as a Locomotive Engineer where he retired after many years. The past three years have been spent in Layton, Utah.
DeMar was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including President of the Riverton, Wyoming Stake, service in the Ogden Temple, and two missions with his sweetheart in Leeds, England and Nauvoo, IL. He had a great love of missionary work and teaching the young men in church. He also loved bearing his testimony.
He enjoyed wood work and was a carpenter by trade. Most of all he adored his wife, family, and membership in the church, which were the center of his life.
DeMar is survived by his wife, Elaine, children Gary (Carolyn), Michael (Kristen), Diane (Kirk), Carolyn (Nathan), Alan (Barbara), Bryan (Sonia), and Kevin (Holly), 42 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Naomi and Shirlene. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Duane and son-in-law Kirk.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holmes Creek Stake Center, 125 Chapel Street, Layton. Friends may meet with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Payson Cemetery at 3 pm.
