Denise LeAnne Ballingham

October 19, 1949 ~ January 13, 2016

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Denise LeAnne (Cowdin) Ballingham passed away surrounded by those she loved the most, her husband and children, on Wednesday January 13, 2016, putting an end to the pain. Denise was born on October 19, 1949 to Douglas Kermit Cain and Dolores Marie (Toy) Cain. She was later adopted by the man she called ‘Daddy’ her whole life, Neil Frank Cowdin. She graduated from Bonneville High School where she had met her best friend and soulmate, Donald Dean Ballingham. They married in the Logan LDS Temple on April 11, 1969 and were blessed with nine children.

Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Uintah 1st Ward for the last 55 years where she held various positions from Primary teacher to Young Womens leader.

Mom loved to craft, crochet, and bead. But most of all Mom loved to cook. She was known for her amazing cooking and would always cook for a king and his army. Mom was a cheerleader, a hairstylist, a nurse, and a chef for all her kids, but most of all, she was our mom. She always made sure that every one of us was taken care of and was always taking care of everyone else’s needs before her own. We blessed Mom and Dad with 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The grandkids could do no wrong in grandma’s eyes and she always spoiled her beautiful grandbabies. Mom epitomized the saying “That’s it, I’m calling Grandma”. Just as much as Mom loved her grandkids they loved her that much more. They were her fuel when the days got rough or when she felt like she could not go anymore.

Mom is survived by her husband, Don; children, Doyle (Michelle) Ballingham, Dani (George) Hartog, Dawn Froehle, DeNae Ballingham, Dori (Troy) White, Dean (Oneal) Ballingham, Derik (Ashlee) Ballingham, Dustin (Alaina) Ballingham, and Devin (Nikki) Ballingham; her brothers, Douglas Cowdin, David (Debbie) Cowdin, Marylyn (Ivan) Madsen, and Darcel (Mike) Bindrup and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Dolores Cowdin.

We would like to thank Roxina Fischer and her staff, IHC Hospice, and Utah Hematology for their tender and genuine care for Mom.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Uintah LDS First Ward Chapel, 6660 S 1775 E, Uintah.  Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Uintah Cemetery.
