Denise Cox Hancock

Denise Cox Hancock was born March 22, 1952, in Gunnison, Utah. Her mother and father, Doris and Donald Cox, were very good parents who taught by example as Denise did. She was the oldest of five children, all of which started with “D” just like her mom and dad. She moved to Ogden, Utah as an infant and went to various schools there, Lynn Elementary School, Wahlquist Junior High, Weber High School and Weber State College. She lived with her family for one year in Arequipa, Peru when she was 13 years old. She went to a school in Peru where only Spanish was spoken and learned the language somewhat and had a great cultural experience.

She made many friends at school and at church and many remained life-long friends. She internalized the many things she learned in church, especially in Young Women’s. She served a full-time mission in the Raleigh North Carolina mission and had many great experiences there.

After her mission, she married Jeffery Hancock and they had one daughter, Michelle, who was close with mom and loved her very much. She had several jobs, working at Macey’s Grocery Store, North Ogden City, ZCMI, and Macy’s Department store.

Denise served diligently in various callings in her ward. She kept in touch with various relatives and friends and was a genuine, dear friend to all. She enjoyed family get togethers throughout her life, especially during all of the holidays. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was very involved in each of their lives. She loved being a part of her family’s activities. She created several traditions and lasting memories that her family will carry on.

She was a very dedicated care giver to her mom for several years and bonded ever so closely. She took that very seriously and had so many great experiences there. She lived on a spiritual plane. She loved Heavenly Father and always kept close to the spirit. 

We will cherish her memory and love her forever. We know that she is no longer weighed down by her burdens and pain and that she is surrounded by her Saviors love.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at North Ogden 1st Ward, 626 East 2600 North, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
