Denning LeRoy “Roy” Smith passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 17, 1941 in Montpelier, Idaho to Denning and Verona Webb Smith. He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College.
He married his wife Bonnie in Elko, Nevada on October 9, 1960.
Roy worked for the Postal Service as a mail handler and mail carrier. He transferred to Hill Air Force Base retiring after 30 plus years in civil service. After retiring he worked part time at Automotive Supply, Standard Examiner, and Bonneville Title Co.
For the last six years he opened and operated a candy vending business named “Two Bit Treats” with his wife and daughter. A job he loved until his health declined.
Roy loved to travel, camp, hunt and fish, and family gatherings.
Roy is survived by his wife; one son, Michael D. (Mary Jo) Smith; and his daughter, Sherry (Jeff) Bradford; his brother, Weldon Smith; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bette Harmon; and his dog, “Henry”.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
We the family, would like to thank the many healthcare providers who helped to care for Roy during his illness and all his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, an account has been set up at Wasatch Peaks Credit Union in Denning’s name.
