Dennis Jay Barton

Dennis Jay Barton, 64, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Davis Hospital due to complications from a heart attack. He was born June 5, 1947 to Benjamin and Vida Roene Taylor Barton Jr., in Coalville, UT. He graduated from Weber High School and WSU. He served in the US Army Reserves during Vietnam.

Dennis married Linda Mary Harvey on December 30, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an employee of the State of Utah Job Service for 29 years, retiring in 2005. Dennis enjoyed woodworking, traveling and photographing in national parks, especially bears.

He is survived by his wife Linda, three sons: James (Valerie) Barton, Brady Barton, and Barry (Alisha) Barton; his uncle Dale Taylor and aunt Nila Hamblin; cousin Marty Hamblin, cousins, nieces and nephews and many more that love him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11 am at the Syracuse Maplewood Ward, 2228 S. 1660 W. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. before services at the church.

Interment, Henefer City Cemetery Friday at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
