Dennis Carlson

April 29, 1949 — December 27, 2019

Dennis Carlson returned to his Heavenly home on Friday, December 27, 2019 from cancer.

Dennis was born April 29, 1949 to Lester and Elaine Carlson. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1967.

He leaves behind his wife, Ilene Christiansen Carlson, his daughter Rebecca Hall (Calvin) and his son Chad Carlson. He will especially be missed by his four grandchildren, Jeff Carlson, Gabrielle Hall, Porter Hall and Katelyn Hall as well as his brothers and sisters, Linda Carlson, Gary (JoLyn) Carlson, Diane (Val) Petersen, Larry (Kathy) Carlson and Kent (Jan) Carlson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Carlson, his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Cates Carlson and his parents.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a missionary in Western Canadian mission. Dennis served valiantly in many church callings including bishoprics, stake high counselor, choir director, and serving the youth in scouting programs and girls camps. He helped run the LIFE scouting program (later Sons of Helaman) and touched the lives of many young men. He received his District Award of Merit, and his Silver Beaver from the Boy Scouts of America. He served as the director of the Valley View Family History Center and later served a mission as Associated Director of the Layton Family History Center.

Dennis enjoyed doing family history and had a passion for teaching others how to do genealogy. He also enjoyed gardening and always provided his friends and family with an abundance of food and flowers. He especially like spending time with his grandkids.

Many thanks to his doctors and hospice workers.
