Dennis William Chamberlain
“Big D”
May 18, 1941 ~ May 27, 2018
Dennis “Big D” Chamberlain passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, from complications of cancer with his loving family around him. Dennis was born May 18, 1941, in Delta, Utah, to Nora Ilene Jacobs and James William Chamberlain. He was the oldest of four children. Dad was a loving, strong, Christ like man.
He graduated from Ogden High School in 1959 and later graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He served an LDS mission in the Spanish American mission in San Antonio, Texas. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Moore, on May 29, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were later divorced, but he loved her until the day he died. They were blessed with five children, twenty-five grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
He had a strong testimony of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his savior Jesus Christ. All who knew him knew he loved the gospel. He served in many positions in the Church, with his favorite being a Scoutmaster. He loved Scouts and received many awards for his service. The gospel was very important to him, and he did missionary work until the last day of his life.
The most important thing in his life was his kids and grandkids; he always said “I love you,” and we all knew he loved us. He loved to go hunting and to take his kids and grandkids fishing and golfing. He loved to drive, and we will miss his daily “drive by” to check on us.
Dennis is survived by his five children: Michael (Connie) of South Jordan; Sean (Shannon) of Syracuse; Curtis (Lauralee) of Orting, Washington; Camille McQuiston (Max) of Kaysville; and Mindi Sessions (Steve) of Layton. He is also survived by his father, James William Chamberlain, and his brothers, Robert (Candice) and Greg (Jolene). He is preceded in death by his mother, Nora Ilene Jacobs Chamberlain, and sister, Raylene Eriksson.
