Dennis John Earl “Big D”, 62, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born December 5, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Willis John Earl and Norine Johnson Earl. He graduated from Clearfield High School.
Dennis served faithfully in the Milano, Italy LDS Mission. After returning he married his high school sweetheart, Paula Holt of Syracuse, Utah in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 7, 1977.
His greatest joy was his family: Stephanie and Douglas Peterson of Syracuse; Rachael and Jared Stimpson of Sanford, NC; Ashley and Leland Cassel of Syracuse; and 12 adoring grandchildren. Words cannot express the love and gratitude his family has for him.
Dennis served in many capacities in his church and community. He and Paula enjoyed working together on many projects and served an Ogden Inner City Mission.
He was passionate about Antelope Island, horses, fishing, guns, movies and motorcycles. He never met a stranger, and made everyone feel comfortable. Dennis loved life and brought happiness and laughter to all. His home was always open to friends and family. He was tall in stature and in spirit, a choice man.
Dennis was also meticulous in his work at Westinghouse as an ultra-sonic technician and trainer for over 33 years. He studied engineering at Weber State University and was very good with machines. He was a jack-of-all trades, always willing to teach a skill or lend a tool.
Dennis endured through his trials bravely. His family wishes to thank the medical professionals who cared for him over the past years.
