Dennis Gilbert Hadlock, 95, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at his home of complications of diabetes and pneumonia.
Dennis was born October 17, 1912 in Clinton, Utah, the oldest child of Chauncey and Tina Hadlock. He spent his childhood in Davis and Weber Counties in Utah and lived a short time, in his youth, in Mesa, Arizona, of which he had many fond memories.
He married Alma Stokes on May 17, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They later divorced. On September 8, 1962, Dennis married Katherine Beard Clark in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was a High Priest in the Clinton 4th Ward. He faithfully served the Lord in many callings a" Stake and Ward Sunday School, Stake M.I.A., Elders Quorum President, High Priests Group Leader and assistant, Executive Secretary for four bishops, Ward Mission Leader, served three Stake Missions, ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple, High Councilor in the Syracuse, Clinton and Clinton North Stakes, bishops counselor. He and Katherine served in the Georgia Atlanta Mission from 1981 to 1983.
Dennis worked in various positions until 1942, when he began service at the Ogden Arsenal. He later transferred to Hill Air Force Base where he served as an engineering technician and was awarded a commendation for outstanding service. He retired in 1981.
He loved nature. He was an accomplished ornithologist and botanist and loved to share his expertise. He loved gardening, camping and traveling and had traveled to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan and had visited most of the 50 states including, Hawaii and Canada.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Katherine; four sons, Brent (Connie), Dion, Dean, Stephen (Althea), Bountiful; three daughters, Karen (John) Seaman, Farmington; Ann (Jeff) Horan, Highlands Ranch, CO; Christine (Stan) Jenne, Orem; two step-sons, Michael Clark, Clinton; Scott (Debra) Clark, Malad, ID; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Basil, Van Nuys, CA.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Theda Garner.
