Dennis Leroy Jensen

Dennis Leroy Jensen, 72, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015. He was born on May 4, 1943 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roy Dean and Zola Bell Jensen. He spent the first four years of his life living in Mink Creek, Idaho, while his father was serving in the Navy during World War II. He graduated from Bonneville High School first graduating class of 1961. Then he graduated from Salt Lake Barber School. He also served in the Utah National Guard.
He married Barbara Lynn Grover in August of 1968 in Weber County, Utah.
Dennis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He served as President of the Roy Jaycee’s in the early 1970’s while owning a Barber Shop in Roy, Utah. He had almost 31 years of sobriety with AA. He was an active and humble example of overcoming addiction. For the past 35 years, Dennis worked in many large industrial construction projects throughout the United States. He had a passion for guns and was an avid collector, belonging to the Utah Gun Collectors Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, going hunting, fishing and shooting. His grandkids learned many skills and the knowledge he imparted in regards to being frugal and generous at the same time. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara Lynn Grover; sons, Matthew B. (Christy) Conley and Daniel P. (Mildred) Conley; daughters, Monica L. Kapp and Andria C. (Eric) Muñoz; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Jensen and Boyd Jensen; and sisters, Beth (Pat) Patterson and Joyce Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
