Dennis G. Massengale
FARR WEST a" Dennis George Massengale, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 21, 1945 in Ogden, a son of George U. Massengale and Ione Johnston.
Dennis married his loving wife, Vicky Mortensen, on May 27, 1967.
He attended the Ogden City Schools and proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Following his discharge from the Army, he worked at Hill Air Force Base for 42 years as an Electronic Technician where he made many friends. He retired in 2005.
Dennis was a member of a bowling league for many years. He was involved with the Scouting program and enjoyed watching the food channel, machine embroidery work, 4- wheeling, camping, telling and emailing jokes to friends and family.
Surviving are his wife, Vicky, of Ogden; children, Tina (Clifford) Porter, Castaic, CA; James (Tonya) Massengale, Denise (Curt) Heckert, both of Plain City, UT; 12 grandkids, seven great-grandkids with two more on the way, and one sister, Georgia (Lloyd) Suiter, Sandy, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Roy L. Johnston, two sisters, Deanna Willis and Helen Parrish, and his grandson, Nicholas Massengale.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
