DENNIS THAYNE NELSON

1965-2014

Dennis Thayne Nelson, age 49, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born on June 3, 1965 in Moses Lake, Washington, the son of Dennis E. Nelson and Mary Lou Mauch.  He married Danielle Tappan on October 7, 1989. Together they had two children and spent 25 years together.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Darian Erica Nelson and his son, Dylan Andrew Nelson. He is also survived by his father, Dennis (Ladene); grandfather, Buzz Mauch; sister, Brittany Pierson (Dan); nephew Cameron, niece Haylie; Aunts, Donna Mauch and Patty Donovan (Jon), cousins Graham and Mary and his mother-in-law, Jean Tappan.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou and grandmother, Mitzi Mauch.

Dennis was a devoted father that spent many long hours playing strategy games with his son and helping his daughter work on her car.  He was an avid reader as well as an extremely resourceful and hard worker. He loved building and creating things and could do anything he set his mind to. He loved the outdoors, especially the Black Hills of South Dakota.  He enjoyed smoking his pipe and had a witty sense of humor.  He was always willing to help others and made an impact on everyone he met.  He will be missed by all of those that knew and loved him.
