Dennis M Stratton

April 9, 1943 — August 25, 2024

Denny passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 9, 1943, in Delta, Utah to Clayton and Nelda Maxfield Stratton. He graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State University.

From August 28, 1961, to December 17, 1965, Denny served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He then began a lifetime career in civil service at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 37 years of service. While in this service he would meet many lifetime friends that would share in his love of Camping, Boating, Fishing and Hunting.

Denny’s life provided him with two marriages, he married Karen Beech on May 6, 1966, together they had four children, Halley, Jennefer, Blake and a daughter Jenni that was called home before he got to know her. On Jan 1996 he met Kimberly Hennefer bringing together two more children, Michael and Daniel Holley. This combination produce 8 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.

His many adventures took him to places like the Jerico Sand Dunes, the Manti LaSals, the San Rafel Swells, Timber Canyon, the Muddies, Lake Powell and The Keystone just to mention a few. This would require the skills of building jeeps and buying motorcycles for the dunes. He was an excellent water skier and loved to snow ski. This provided the opportunity to Ski Patrol at Snow Basin. He loved boating and really enjoyed his speed boat at Lake Powell. The San Rafel Swells became the annual event for Easter which lasted a span of almost 35 years. Camping and hunting with his children, brothers, sisters, and friends took place at the Manti LaSals, Timber Canyon and the Muddy Mountain range. The annual Bugle Mouth Bass contest at the Keystone became an event he looked forward to every year. These camping and hunting trips would carve out the memories that would enrich his life, building his circle of close and good friendships, and provide him with lifelong stories that were repeated many times around a campfire.

Denny is survived by his wife, Kimberly, children, Halley (Rich), Jen, Blake (Krysti) and Daniel (Mindi); his siblings, Deanna (Ron) Young, Karen Gullo, Ellen (Dee) Rounkles, Debbie (Ross) Nietert and Alan (Colette) Stratton. He was preceded in death by his father Clayton, Mother Nelda, stepmother Blanche, one brother Lee Stratton, and two sisters, Sydney Flint, Linda (Larry) Schneider and his grandmother Vilate Maxfield.
