Dennis Dayton Tomlinson
SOUTH OGDEN a" Dennis Dayton Tomlinson passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2009. His loving wife and his four sons and their wives surrounded him.
Dad was born August 10, 1935 to Virginia Dayton and Kenneth Tomlinson. He was a proud graduate of Ogden High School in 1953, and went on to complete his education with a Bachelor''s degree from Weber State.
Dad served his country honorably for two years in the United States Army stationed in Alaska.
On May 19, 1960, he was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of his life and eternal companion, Sharon Beckman, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dad provided a great life for his family. He worked very hard at Unisys as a cost analyst and retired in 1994.
Dad held many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Elder''s Quorum President, counselor in the 70th Ward Bishopric, Branch President of Legacy (Washington) House, and a faithful Home Teacher.
Dad has left us to go to a better place, a place where he will no longer have daily pain, which he endured for many, many years, with his loving wife constantly by his side. We were lucky to be able to spend every summer with Dad at Bear Lake as a family. He also enjoyed spending Sundays together as a family. Dad loved to be with his family and share his love of goodies with his grandkids. Even with Dad''s numerous health problems, he always had a good attitude, never once asking why he had to go through the pain. Dad was a great example to us all of how to fully live your life and not sit and watch it pass you by. Dad will be greatly missed and was loved by all who came to know him.
Dad is survived by his loving wife of 49 and a half years, Sharon Tomlinson; his brother, Roger Tomlinson; and four sons, Jeff (Lisa), Mark (Marie), Scott (Kristine) and Brad (Sarah) Tomlinson; and 15 grandchildren.
His parents and one brother, Larry Tomlinson, preceded Dad in death.
A special thanks for all the love and prayers from our family and friends, and to Crestwood Care Center for their love and care during the past few weeks, along with McKay-Dee Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
